Two from ACME Selected for Top Women in Grocery Honor
Before being assigned to the ACME in Hockessin, Kim worked her way up through the ranks from a clerk and assistant store director at top ACME locations to managing the newest and first green ACME store in Concordville, Pennsylvania. Kim took over the ACME Hockessin location prior to an extensive remodel of that store and maintained smooth operations and customer service while the store was under heavy construction. The store opened with a state of the art deli, expanded hot foods, an expanded organic food offering, fresh seafood market, and many other amenities. Kim achieved one of the highest honors in ACME when she received the title of “Great Store Director”, an award that is given to store directors who achieve and maintain great performance and service, are great mentors, are customer oriented, and are involved in the community. Kim was the leader of ACME’s Delaware breast cancer drive and helped raise over $40,000 for breast cancer awareness and education. Kim is a graduate of the University of Delaware.
Mary Washinko has managed the Service Deli operations for ACME for over 30 years and oversees all facets of service deli operations for all 112 stores. She introduced the first gluten-free delis in the market area, an innovation so widely admired that the Celiac Foundation president attended the first grand opening in Paoli, PA. In addition, Mary has added a Tony Luke’s program, a Grilled Chicken program, and increased the number of healthier side options for customers. Mary has received numerous internal awards for her inspiration to other team members and has been nominated multiple times as Associate of the Quarter, an ACME peer award.
“We congratulate Kim and Mary on this achievement and are proud of their leadership in our company and the community. They are great examples of ACME’s commitment to serving our customers and our community.” said Jim Perkins, ACME president.
