Start a Holiday Baking Tradition

Dec 9th, 2014

My in-laws have a fabulous holiday tradition of getting together on a Saturday in early December to do some baking for family and friends. They pull out recipes that have been in the family for many generations as well as introduce a few new recipes that may or may not make it into the yearly rotation. Everyone gathers at the house with the biggest kitchen and we bake with the kids all day long. At the end of the day we gather around a table with all the treats and make plates that have a little of everything to hand out to friends and family. It’s a great way to spend time together and a gift that doesn’t cost a lot. Below are a few recipes to get your family started with a tradition like ours.

Gingerbread Men Cookies

A classic that is a must for any cookie tray. And the best part with these is that you can decorate them anyway you want!

Oreo Snowman Pops

The kids will love making these sweet treats! Just count out your oreos or you might be a little short before all your pops get made!

Candy Cane Blossoms

These cookies just scream the holidays! And the best part is you can get creative with the sprinkles you add.

Cinnamon Ornaments

Make sure to mark this one clearly — NOT a cookie! It might look like one, but instead it’s a great ornament! A great idea is to use it as the gift tag on the box of cookies you are handing out, just add the recipients name.
