PHILADELPHIA – (December 1, 2016) – ACME Markets and real estate development firm, The
Goldenberg Group, announce the signing of a lease to construct a new supermarket in the City
of Philadelphia. The new full-line grocery market will be located in the Snyder Plaza Shopping
Center and will serve the Pennsport and Whitman neighborhoods as well as the greater Center
City area. The new ACME will include both Starbucks coffee, as well as a beer and wine shop.
The new South Philadelphia store will offer an expansive variety of the freshest produce, topquality
meats and seafood, and a large selection of natural, gluten-free, organic, and local
products amidst a comfortable, inviting atmosphere. The building at 29 Snyder Avenue will be
completely gutted and renovated to encompass the new ACME store slated to open in Summer
“Our new store will welcome our Pennsport, Whitman and Center City neighbors and we are
thrilled to offer them a fantastic new shopping experience,” said Dan Croce, president, ACME.
“From our product selection to the design and layout of the store, our goal will be to provide
our customers with excellent service, convenience, and variety. We look forward to our
opening next year and bringing the best of ACME to the community for many years to come.”
“ACME’s commitment to delivering an excellent all-around experience for our shoppers aligns
with The Goldenberg Group’s goals of reinventing Snyder Plaza to not only provide the variety,
convenience and quality of grocery and retail stores our customers demand, but to create a real
connection to the community,” said Adam Rosenzweig, senior vice president of Leasing & Asset
Management for The Goldenberg Group. “We couldn’t be more excited to welcome ACME to
its new home at Snyder Plaza, and we’re confident that its full-line of offerings will make this a
beacon location in the City for supermarket shopping.”
ACME Markets joins Target, Marshalls and 20 other retailers on Snyder Avenue, conveniently
located off Route 95 and Columbus Boulevard. The announcement of ACME Markets is the
latest step in The Goldenberg Group’s multi-year plan to enhance Snyder Plaza. In addition to
new stores and other capital improvements, plans include the creation of public spaces,
improved walkways and better connections to the neighborhoods.
The above transaction was arranged by Richard Weinberg of CBRE.

Why do you ask for your customers to take a survey and it is blocked. How am I to tell you how the store I shop in is doing?

Hi, Pat. We’d like to suggest clearing your cookies and browsing history, then restarting your browser. The survey site is operational at this time. Please follow this link. Hope this helps! -Julio

Thanks for the prompt response but I have an honest question…. Do you guys really share the comments with Real Estate Department? The only reason I ask is because I see other requests for a store near our area in Pompton Lakes, NJ have been made on this blog in the past and it seems like it falls on deaf ears. Does the Real Estate Dept. really take our plea for a store serious or are they just brushing us off? Sorry for the rant but that’s how I really feel.

The nation’s original Italian water ice, Rosati Ice is proud of our exclusive arrangement with Acme. Our 10 cups and 2-qt party pails are only sold in your food markets. We would like to be a part of this store’s opening and scoop out free water ice to your customers. Can you please let me know the date and time of the
Grand Opening? We were involved with numerous Grand reopenings last summer and we’re proud to continue to support you.

The ACME at 5th & Delancey is closing very soon, according to the Society Hill Civic Association. It is currently suing both ACME and Leo Addimando, the Mafia-associated developer, who owns the site for discrimination.

Why doesn’t ACME give up trying to EVICT the fresh grocer at 40th & Walnut, and take over the dilapidated Supremo Market at 43rd Street, that sells all ACME essential brands?

    • Customer Support 04/05/2017 at 5:11 pm

Hello Ed, Fresh Grocer issues or concerns should be directed to Fresh Grocer or its landlord. Have a great day. -Dolores

Hello, I can not tell you how thrilled my husband and I are that you are opening @ 2nd and Snyder. We live in Queen Village and shop at the acme stores at 5th & 10th street. To be honest, we were shoprite customers too. That is no longer now that Acme is comparable in prices and have a wider and fresher selection. Kudos to whom ever reinvented the Acme stores. Might sound weird but we are taking off work to be one of the first day customers in your new store. It’s set to open sept 1st correct? Any other updates about the grand opening?
