Hormone Replacement Therapy

Hormone Replacement Therapy assists in achieving hormone balance. Both men and women can benefit from hormone replacement therapy. Hormones are used to relieve symptoms of menopause, andropause, hysterectomies, and hypothyroidism, as well as similar hormone imbalances when exercise and a good diet are not enough.

Hormone levels fluctuate throughout life causing imbalances to occur at different times which can cause many life impacting symptoms such as:

  • Fatigue
  • Disturbed sleep
  • Irritability
  • Weight gain
  • Headaches
  • Reduced libido
  • Memory loss

If you are currently on, or are considering the use of, Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) and you think individualized HRT makes more sense than a one-size-fits-all approach, please speak with your physician and/or complete our HRT Evaluation Form - Male or HRT Evaluation Form - Female. This confidential form will be reviewed by a pharmacist who will contact you within 48-72 hours.

Men’s Health

Andropause is often called the “male menopause.” As men age, they produce less testosterone. Men can start this decline as early as their 30′s or 40’s when the body’s production of testosterone starts to drop by 1-2% each year. This decrease in testosterone can lead to a number of symptoms. Men can go through these changes quickly or more slowly over a period of time, with a gradual hormone decline. Often these symptoms can be reduced or eliminated through testosterone replacement therapy (TRT).

Signs and symptoms of low testosterone may include:

  • Fatigue
  • Weakness
  • Insomnia
  • Depression
  • Diminished sex drive
  • Mood changes
  • Lean body mass reduction along with muscle mass and strength
  • Loss of body hair
  • Increased fat around the abdomen

Benefits of customized Testosterone Replacement Therapy may include:

  • Improvement in libido
  • Increase in muscle mass and body composition
  • Increase in strength
  • Improvement in mood and depression
  • Improvement in sleep and quality of life

If you are currently on, or are considering the use of, Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) and you think individualized HRT makes more sense than a one-size-fits-all approach, please speak with your physician and/or complete our HRT Evaluation Form - Male. This confidential form will be reviewed by a pharmacist who will contact you within 48-72 hours.

Pain Management

Chronic pain can be described as ongoing or recurring pain, lasting beyond the usual course of acute illness or injury (usually more than three to six months). Chronic pain adversely affects an individual’s well-being and affects approximately 10-20% of the adult population. Although there are a number of treatment plans, including antidepressants, opioids, local anesthetics, alpha-adrenergic agents and more, some patients continue to experience intolerable adverse effects or inadequate pain relief.

Safeway Compounding Pharmacy can compound customized pain gels for individualized pain treatment for the following conditions:

  • Neuropathic pain
  • Musculoskeletal pain
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Migraine
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Cancer
  • Shingles

If you are a physician looking for specific strengths of active ingredients (i.e. ketamine, ketoprofen, gabapentin, diclofenac, etc.), call us to inquire. We can also compound in different transdermal bases to make absorption more effective.

Palliative Care

Palliative care is for patients whose disease is not responsive to alternative treatment. Symptom Control involves therapies for nausea and vomiting, excessive pulmonary secretions, dry mouth and stomatitis, wound care, and more.

Many challenges come up when dealing with medications and children. In general, many kids resist having to take medication, dislike the texture and/or taste, as well as have difficulties swallowing pills.

Fortunately, Safeway Compounding Pharmacy can help with these problems. Special formulations can be helpful, especially with infants and young children who are not able to swallow capsules and tablets.

We compound oral medications into flavors, colors, and formulations that are appealing to children, such as freezer pops, gummy bears, lozenges, pudding, or lollipops.
