Whole Grain Brown Rice.
Directions Boil: 1. In a saucepan bring water to a boil (cooking measurement chart). 2. Stir in rice (add 1 tbsp. butter and 1 tsp. salt per cup of uncooked rice, if desired). 3. Cover Reduce heat and simmer for 45 minutes or until all water is absorbed. Microwave: Cooking Direction in the Microwave: 1. In a 2 1/2 quart microwave-safe dish combine 3 cups water and 1 cup brown rice. 2. Microwave uncovered on high for 10 minutes. Reduce power to 50%, microwave uncovered for 20 minutes. Allow rice to sit for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork and serve. Do not add salt or butter/margarine to rice until after rice is cooked. For drier rice, use 1/4 cup less water,. For moister rice, use 1/4 cup more water. Rice 1 cup, 2 cups, 3 cups. Water 2 1/2 cups, 5 cups, 7 1/2 cups. Makes 3 1/2 cups, 7 cups, 10 1/2 cups. Serving (3/4 cup cooked) 5, 9, 14.
